SUMMARY:Sports Camp 2025 "Most Valuable Purpose"
DESCRIPTION:Registration is open! \nWe are excited to present to you our fifth annual Vertical Sports Camp!! \nThis is a day camp for boys and girls. June 2-6\, 2025 \nIn general: 5-6 yrs: 8-12pm \n7-9 yrs: 8-12pm \n10-14 yrs: 1:15-5:15pm \nNote: Groups max out in many sports\, so make sure to reserve your spot! \nRegistration $195 per child\nFamily Discount $125 for additional children \nAges 5-6 yrs will have a new sports program called Sports Trifecta.\nAges 7-14 yrs will choose a sport for the week. Note – kids will do one sport for the whole week. Cheer and Hula are open to ages 6-14. \nCheck in/pick up will be at Hope Chapel\, Kihei. There will be opening and closing rallies everyone must attend. Please check in prior to start time! \nEvery child must meet at Hope Chapel to check in each day\, and parents will also pick up at Hope Chapel. Parents of every sport will drop off their kids and leave them with their coaches throughout the day. \n5-9 yrs pickup at 12:00pm\, 10-14 yrs pickup at 5:15pm. \nEach sport will have world class coaches\, many traveling from the mainland to coach our athletes. \nKids will need to bring a water bottle\, snacks\, hat \, sunscreen\, and any sporting equipment as suitable for the sport you choose. \nThe sports will be: \nBasketball (offered both sessions): Directed by Phillip Morrison\, Founder of Hoops for Christ and former basketball player overseas. This camp will be held at the South Maui gymnasium in Kihei. \nBaseball (offered morning session ages 7-14): Directed by Mark Flatten\, Associate Head Coach at Arizona Christian University. Also\, a number of former college Baseball players will be coaching. Baseball will take place at the Kalama Park Baseball Field. \nCanoe Paddling (only morning – ages 7-14): Canoe Paddling will be directed this year by Damon Austin of the Kihei Canoe Club and Jeff Scharnhorst of the Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Voyaging Society. Paddlers will experience paddling through wa’a (canoe) respect and etiquette sessions\, teamwork and teambuilding exercises\, as well as both land and on-water technique training. Paddlers will focus on body\, mind and spirit in each of these exercises. NOTE: Paddles and PFDs (personal floatation devices) will be provided- paddlers should bring their own towel\, water bottle\, and water shoes if desired (kids will all bus together from Hope Chapel). \nCheer (only morning – ages 6-14): Directed by 49’ers Former Cheer Captain Marissa Volk. Cheer camp will take place in the Hope Chapel courtyard. At the end of camp\, the cheer campers will perform a practiced team routine Friday\, June 6th at 6:30pm at the Hope Chapel service in front of all the campers and parents! \nCrossFit (offered both sessions): Directed by 2021 CrossFit Open South Korean National Champion and current athlete\, Josh Hong. This will take place at Aloha Kihei CrossFit. Athletes will be learning core\, body weight\, weight training\, and cardio exercises with a focus on varied movements\, helping kids build a foundation of strength and conditioning. \nFlag Football (offered both sessions): Directed by former NFL player Daquinn Evans and Eddie Williams\, another former professional football player! This camp will be at Kalama Park in Kihei. \nHula (only afternoon  – ages 6-14): Hula will be in the Hope Chapel auditorium\, afternoon’s only. At the end of camp\, the hula campers will perform a practiced team routine Friday\, June 6th at 6:30pm at the Sports Camp Hope Chapel service. \nPickleball (only mornings – ages 7-14): New this year and coached by Kihei’s own  Eric Nakagawa\, pickleball will take place at Hope Chapel. \nSoccer: (only morning session – ages 7-14): by Andrew Belleman who is the Soccer director at CCV in AZ. Soccer camp will be at the South Maui Soccer field (next to the basketball gymnasium). \nSports Trifecta (ages 5-6) will only be from 8am-12pm\, no afternoon group. Kids will register if they are 5 or 6 yrs as of June 2\, 2025. We will teach kids the basics of sport movement and specific sports skills. In this program\, we will introduce kids to the basics of rhythmic and skill development through sports instruction\, while also having fun with coaches and learning more about Jesus through Bible story and huddle time. \nVolleyball (offered both sessions): Directed by the University of Biola Volleyball Coach\, Brian Failinger. Also\, former Idaho Vandals player\, with multiple first-team All-Conference honors\, Sarah Williams will be coaching! Volleyball will take place in the grass bowl at Hope Chapel.\n********************************************************************** \nEach day\, kids will have a “huddle” where the Coaches will sit down and go through a Bible lesson in the Camp Workbook\, learning how to integrate sports and faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that our youth can maximize their potential when they grow physically\, mentally and spiritually. This is a great opportunity for child development! \nOn Friday\, the last day of camp\, we will have a sports themed church service at Hope Chapel Kihei @ 6:30pm – we encourage all kids to attend with their families! This will be a great time to celebrate the kids’ hard work together throughout the week.
