Kids will register if they are: 4yrs old\, 5yrs & entering Kindergarten in the fall\, also 5yrs entering 1st grade in the fall. Keiki 45 will teach kids the basics of sport movement and specific sports skills. In this program\, we will introduce kids to the basics of rhythmic and skill development through sports instruction\, while also having fun with coaches and learning more about Jesus through Bible story and huddle time. \n\n\n \nHawaiian Outrigger Canoe (only morning – 6-14 yrs) We are excited to add this new sport this year! Paddlers will experience paddling through wa’a (canoe) respect and etiquette sessions\, teamwork and teambuilding exercises\, as well as both land and on-water technique training. Paddlers will focus on body\, mind and spirit in each of these exercises. NOTE: Paddles and PFDs (personal floatation devices) will be provided- paddlers should bring their own towel\, water bottle\, and water shoes if desired. (kids will all bus together from Hope Chapel) \n\n\n \nHula (6-14yrs\, afternoon only) Directed by Hope Chapel Hula Director\, Mahi’ai Georgie Akau. Hula will be in the Hope Chapel courtyard\, afternoon’s only. At the end of camp\, the hula campers will perform a practiced team routine Friday\, June 14th at 6:30pm at the Sports Camp Hope Chapel service and also for Father’s Day Sunday\, June 16th at 8:30am and 10:30am services. \n\n\n \nFlag/Touch Rugby (6-14yrs\, afternoon only): Touch/Flag Rugby is a fun\, safe\, team game that develops a range of ball handling\, running and evasion skills. While being taught the fundamental rules and ethos of Rugby\, participants learn the importance of teamwork and respect for opponents\, coaches and referees\, which are key elements of the sports culture. There will be a focus on growing integrity\, passion\, solidarity\, discipline and respect\, as athletes and children of God. This sport will take place at Kalama Park. \n\n\n \nEach day\, kids will have a “huddle” where the Coaches will sit down and go through a Bible lesson in the Camp Workbook\, learning how to integrate sports and faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that our youth can maximize their potential when they grow physically\, mentally and spiritually. This is a great opportunity for child development! \n\n\n \nOn Friday\, the last day of camp\, we will have a sports-themed Church service at Hope Chapel. We will have a panel of our guest coaches to interview and share some insights from their sporting careers and faith journey’s at Hope Chapel Kihei @ 6:30pm which we encourage all kids to attend with their families! This will be a great time to connect with every kid from every sport and celebrate their hard work together throughout the week. There will be prizes handed out along with a cheer performance from the campers! There will also be a Father’s Day service Sunday at 8:30am & 10:30am. \n\n\n \nIf you need financial aid or have other questions\, please contact verticalsportsoffice@gmail.com (scholarships available) \n\n\n \nIf you would like to sponsor a child(s) you can do that HERE \n\n\n \nWe look forward to you joining us at Sports Camp!
