Executive Director

Shannah Gossett brings more than thirty years of experience in hospitality, sales, and marketing to her role as Executive Director of Vertical Sports Maui. Her work in resort leadership shaped how she approaches people, teams, and community—with a steady focus on service, connection, and genuine care.

Shannah has spent her career taking care of people, and that same mindset guides her work at Vertical Sports Maui. Her background in hospitality taught her the value of listening, showing up, and creating spaces where people feel they belong. Moving into nonprofit work wasn’t about a big shift—it was a natural extension of wanting to support kids and families in Maui County. She focuses on building real relationships and doing the kind of steady, everyday work that helps communities grow stronger.

Shannah, a native Texan who has called Maui ‘home’ for the past 15 years, lives in North Kihei with her cat (Makai) and mother (Cheryl). Shannah is a sports enthusiast and an avid Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe paddler (racing with Kihei Canoe Club). She enjoys serving at Hope Chapel (Kids Ministry / Choir), exploring the globe (35+ countries and counting), and spending time laughing and living life with friends and family.

Director of Operations | Board Secretary

Judy Koglin brings many years of professional experience across a wide range of roles. She holds a BA in Business Administration and an MBA with an emphasis in Human Resources. Her diverse background spans the corporate sector, nonprofit organizations, and a unique role with a government contractor, along with owning and operating several successful small businesses throughout her career.

Judy is passionate about change and process improvement and enjoys serving as a catalyst for challenging assumptions and moving initiatives forward. She brings this experience to Vertical Sports Maui.

Judy loves teaching Sunday school and volunteers year-round with Operation Christmas Child. Above all, she treasures her favorite roles as wife to her husband, Wade; mom to two grown sons and a daughter-in-law; and TuTu to two adorable granddaughters.

Sports Manager

Chase Horcica

A passionate sports and youth development professional, Chase holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Texas A&M University, with minors in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Sciences and Business. His experience spans youth ministry, sports and recreation, team leadership, hospitality, and retreat coordination.

Through a variety of roles, Chase has gained extensive experience working with youth, leading teams, coordinating events, and serving diverse groups of people. His background includes mentoring middle and high school students, facilitating team-building activities, managing employees in a fast-paced environment, and coordinating retreats for organizations and groups. These experiences have strengthened his leadership, communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.

He is passionate about using sports and recreation as a platform to inspire, equip, and develop the next generation. His leadership experience and commitment to youth development allow him to create environments where young people can build confidence, develop character, and grow through meaningful experiences.
